Last week, I shared with you the 6 things that DIDN’T work when building my business (so that you can stop doing them too!).
Today, we’re going to turn the tables and focus on the stuff that did work...really, really well.
This is all about streamlining. It’s about getting the Business Clarity you need to focus on what works, let go of what doesn’t and therefore fast-track your business expansion.
When we streamline, we gain momentum.
By removing the excess weight and relieving the added pressure, we start cruising along with more speed and feel-good energy than ever before.
(If you haven’t already, it’s a good idea to check out last week’s post as a precursor to this one.)
There is no one formula that will work for every single person out there, but the things I’m sharing below worked unbelievably well for me, and they’ve also worked really well for my 1x1 and group coaching clients.
Here’s your job: see what resonates, notice what sounds like fun, and try those out. Don’t worry about the rest! This isn’t about giving you a long list of business to-dos, it’s about inspiring Business Clarity and feel-good action.
1. Asking for help worked.
This was a toughie for me. I don’t like to ask for help. Never have.
I like being self-sufficient. I like handling things myself (read: my way). I like being in control.
But, I also realized that not one super successful person does everything by herself!
They all have a team, they hire experts, they work with coaches, they ask for the help! They focus on what they do best, and hand off the rest.
When I realized that I wasn’t emulating that at all, it was a huge wake up call. And, when I started to make the shift of asking for help and allowing myself to be supported by really high-level people, I was hooked!
Not only did my business soar, but I felt better than ever before. I felt like a pro -- and that is a really, really good feeling.
2. Prioritizing my mindset worked.
We touched on mindset in last week’s post, but it can’t be underestimated. It’s where you’re hanging out all day every day, and if it’s not a supportive environment for your (and your business’) well-being, it’s time to shift that.
I started to realize that all the effort and hustle in the world wouldn’t get me the success I was after if I didn’t first and foremost believe I was capable and worthy of receiving it.
That may sound a little “woo-woo”, but it’s true. There’s no possible way for us to reach success if we’re spending all our time in doubt and worry -- they simply don’t match up.
Prioritizing my mindset was the BEST thing I ever did for my business, and here’s how you can start making that shift too…
Meditate, listen to inspiring audiobooks or podcasts, read personal development books, surround yourself with high-vibe people (see #3 below), repeat affirmations, listen to guided hypnosis, and, above all, focus on feeling good!
3. Surrounding myself with high-vibe people worked.
Did you ever hear the saying that you’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with?
The reason that tends to be is that we’re so affected by other people’s energies. If you’re always hanging out with people who complain about not having enough money or give you hard time about being an entrepreneur, it can be really hard to make any progress toward your goals.
Personally, I’m now a member of a number of different mastermind groups with other women entrepreneurs. It’s so refreshing to be in the presence of high-vibe women who are excited about the work they’re doing and believe in your success, too!
4. Investing in myself + my business worked.
Until you’re ready to invest in yourself. Until you see the VALUE in yourself, it’s really, really hard to get other people to invest and see the value in you.
Every time I expressed my unwavering belief in MYSELF by investing in myself and my business, LEAPS FORWARD would follow.
Not only does investing in yourself and your business allow you to work with high-level coaches and participate in invaluable group coaching or programs who can show you what to do (and what not to do), but it also reveals new layer after new layer of Business Clarity.
Simply put, any time you value yourself enough to invest in you, other people see that value too!
5. Trusting my heart/gut worked.
Sometimes we’ll see what someone else is doing in her business and think, “If I just replicate that for myself, I’ll be good! That’s the ticket!”.
But, there is no ONE way, no ONE formula, no “right” and no “wrong”. There’s only what’s right for you and what feels best for you and your business.
The solutions don’t come from “out there”, from looking around and “copying”, they come from listening to your own inner guidance.
Cultivate your gut instinct -- it’s the best business tool you’ve got.
If something feels right, move towards it. If something feels off, move away.
Trust your inner guidance system as you build your business. It WILL NOT lead you astray.
So, there you have it! The 5 things that DID work when building my business to where it is today (and where it’s going tomorrow).
I hope this list inspires you to streamline and aim for Business Clarity above all else!
